Matthew 4.1-2, 11 – We consider the Lord’s fast before his temptation and ask why he fasted on this occasion. Most Bible teachera and other Biblical examples suggest that this fast was a fast of preparation before facing the trial of the temptation and the challenge of the soon to be public ministry. It doesn’t serve as a model for us, nor did Jesus teach asceticism.
