In Dt 13, a repeated emphasis appears, where various influences may rise to entice Israel into idolatry. The message is that those who entice (or are given over) to idolatry are condemned to death, they and their effects to be purged out of the land. These stern instructions inform Christians how seriously we must take false doctrine.
