Lk 5.29-35 – When challenged by John’s disciples (likely instigated by the Pharisees), Jesus explained why his disciples could not fast when he was present. When he would be taken away, the time for fasting would come. However, since he sent the Spirit, his presence is always with us. Fasting is possible for Christians, but we have little occasion for it. We have the Bridegroom!
