2 Pt 3.3-6 – The chapter opens with Peter calling on believers to “be mindful” (KJV). Mindful of what? The first thing we must be mindful of is the mocking of false teachers. They mock the promise of the Lord’s return, as if the seeming constancy of creation means a supernatural intervention by God is impossible. Peter points out that God has intervened twice before, in the act of Creation itself and in the world-wide flood which destroyed the then world (but God spared Noah). The past puts the lie to present mocking.
