Rev 3.2 – The church in Sardis was a dying church. They failed to preserve what they had heard and were on their way out. The Lord urges them to strengthen what remains and remember what they received. In our day, many churches have long histories, but most of those with long histories have forgotten what they are about and are preserving the wrong things. We use two contemporary churches as examples, showing that we need to preserve the central thing, the gospel, most of all.
