The Word of God and the Book of Kings (3) – Continuing with the book of Kings and its emphasis on the word of God, we conclude our look at Elijah, then turn to Elisha and Hezekiah. With Elisha, we learn that God’s word comes directly (“thus saith the Lord”) and indirectly, as God fulfills the words of his prophet. With Hezekiah, we learn that God hears prayers, and may alter the things he intended to do because a righteous man prayed.
