We take an overview of Paul’s voyage to Rome and the shipwreck, asking the question, “Since there is so little theology or spiritual content in this account, why does Luke (and the Holy Spirit) devote so much attention to it?” We find much to guide us, instructing us about the providence of God, the use of his messenger to accomplish his purposes and the fulfillment of Acts 1.8 as, despite obstacles, the gospel reaches Rome from Jerusalem.
