Dan 11.1-20 – We turn now to one of the most remarkable chapters in the Bible, where Daniel’s prophecy outlines step by step the conflict that would come between two competing portions of Alexander’s former empire, the Seleucids in Syria vs. the Ptolemys in Egypt. These two mini-empires would compete over Palestine, ultimately leading to the Maccabees and an independent Jewish state. The accuracy of these prophecies especially draws the ire of critics.
