Jas 5.12 et al – The Bible is very clear about swearing, taking God’s name in vain, and profane speech. However, in all languages, euphemisms for curse words develop. The question for us is this: are the euphemisms (minced oaths) permissable? We need balance, we should learn to let our yea be yea and our no be no, but over time we also have to acknowledge that meanings change and the connection between the oath and the euphemism is lost.
