Is it possible for a believer to commit unbelief? If it is, what will happen to him? The Exodus generation in the OT provides an example. Many of these people were believers, but when they became afraid, they turned back from God’s will. They didn’t believe God. The consequences was a life of futility. Faith sometimes requires pressing forward for God despite fear.
