As we begin Peter’s discussion of suffering for the Lord’s sake, we find an immediate re-orientation of our perspective. First, Peter describes suffering as a possibility rather than a probability, but then startles us by calling that possibility a condition of blessedness. We consider what it means to receive this kind of blessing.
