1 Cor 11.29
For communion, we turn to the quintessential passage on communion, 1 Corinthians 11. Here, Paul deals with the abuses the Corinthians heaped on the service and expounds the meaning of the service for all generations. This passage is well worth attending to again and again. Today, our theme is the body, not the literal body of Christ, nor the body as represented by bread, but the body of Christ made up of people, the people of the church. The third aspect of Communion symbolism is the gathering of saints. They speak with hope of that great gathering of all saints that is yet to come.
