We look at several passages to understand the doctrine of salvation. Specifically the question was about eras in Church history when the Church was in decline, and corrupt. Could individuals be saved in those churches? The answer is yes, the power is in the word, though those who discern it might be few and far between. We extend this to corrupt churches or even cultic groups today. Despite false teaching, the word is the key. If an individual responds to the word, he or she can be born again.
