Our text today names several traveling companions of the Apostle Paul. They travel with him as representatives of the churches sending offerings to the suffering church of Jerusalem. We piece the story together from various epistles. Paul makes the point in Romans that giving is a spiritual activity, and our thesis is that the way we handle money, especially the money we give in church, can reflect our own spiritual condition.
