1 Cor 9.1-27 – Chapters 8-10 in 1 Corinthians are Paul’s response to the Corinthians who thought they understood everything about idolatry and could take a meal in the idol’s temple without engaging in idol worship. Paul argues strongly against it, using his personal testimony of forgoing his rights for the sake of the gospel, teaching that the worth of the gospel means giving up even unquestioned rights, let alone questionable practices like eating in idol temples.
