Don Johnson is our pastor.
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Don grew up in the oil town of Drayton Valley, Alberta. His interests in those years included sports, business, and his local church. As an athlete… well, let’s just say that it soon became clear that there was no future in that arena! As the son of a Realtor/Insurance agent, Don’s business interests became useful tools for future service – supporting the ministry and administering the church. As the son of dedicated Christian parents, Don learned to follow the Lord’s will in making life choices. This commitment led to pursuit of a Christian education, which led to the acceptance of a call to full time Christian ministry.
Don is a graduate of Bob Jones University (B.A. ’79, MDiv. ’83) in Greenville, SC. There he met and married his wife, Debbi, a native of Michigan. The Johnsons have five children, two of whom are presently preparing for Christian service at BJU. One is teaching at a Foundation Baptist College in Edmonton, Alberta and one is serving in regular ministry in Wales, and one has returned home to keep his aged (!) parents company.
Pastor Don’s ministry emphasizes expository preaching, exalting the Word of God and the gospel as the power for Christian living. His greatest joy is this:
3 John 3 For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. 4 I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.
Pastor Don desires most of all in the ministry to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage you to listen to the podcasts of our sermons and Bible study. Careful attention to the Word of God, mixed with faith in Christ, will make you a disciple too.
